The SB-7000 was one of Technics’ most ambitious loudspeaker projects and is widely recognized as the world’s first commercially available Linear Phaseloudspeaker. Its development marked a major milestone in hi-fi history by demonstrating the importance of time alignment and phase coherence
Designed by Technics’ engineering team, the SB-7000 features a distinctive stepped baffle that physically aligns the acoustic centers of the drivers. This advanced design allows sound from each driver to reach the listener simultaneously, resulting in exceptional imaging, focus, and realism.
The speaker employs a 14-inch woofer, a dedicated midrange driver housed in its own acoustic chamber, and a 32 mm dome tweeter. Together, they deliver a remarkably coherent presentation across the entire frequency spectrum.
Bass is deep, tight, and articulate, with impressive authority and control. The midrange is open and natural, while the treble remains smooth, detailed, and fatigue-free. Even today, the SB-7000 stands as one of the most technically innovative loudspeakers to emerge from Japan’s golden age of audio.
