Tangent TM1 _Bookshelf speakers

1972

Made in UK

The Tangent TM1 embodies the golden age of British loudspeaker design. Created during a period when British designers were focused on neutrality, accuracy, and musicality rather than sheer output, the TM1 was designed to bring a refined, studio-inspired balance into the home.

Its design follows classic British principles: a solid, carefully proportioned cabinet, quality drivers, and a crossover engineered for smooth integration rather than exaggerated effects.

Sonically, the TM1 delivers a warm, natural, and highly coherent presentation. Voices are reproduced with excellent realism, while the soft-dome tweeter provides a smooth, non-fatiguing top end. Bass is articulate and controlled rather than overblown, making the TM1 particularly enjoyable with jazz, folk, classical, and acoustic recordings.

Like many of the best loudspeakers of the era, the TM1 prioritizes balance and long-term listening pleasure over spectacular but artificial effects.

A true hidden gem from British hi-fi heritage.
