Always fun to bring a little Altec into our mostly JBL world — a true sister brand in loudspeaker history. JBL comes from James B. Lansing, the very same Lansing behind the name Altec Lansing.
The Nine Series II follows that great late-’70s formula: a 12” woofer, a three-way design and a seriously substantial cabinet. Think JBL L100 or Pioneer HPM-100 territory, but with plenty of Altec personality.
The hand-rubbed oiled oak is especially cool — a finish rarely seen on loudspeakers — while the oversized cabinets and distinctive front baffle give them a presence all their own.
The sound is big, lively and full-bodied, with generous bass, clear mids and an impressive sense of scale.
